A Warm Welcome from the Head

Welcome to the website of Millfields Primary School & Nursery. As the proud Headteacher of our fantastic school, I am happy to share some thoughts and information regarding education and life at Millfields.

Millfields is a one form entry primary school close to the centre of the historic market town of Nantwich. The staff and governors at Millfields respect and value each and every member of our school community, which is demonstrated by our Mission Statement:

‘To create a learning environment in which all members of the school community work together to enable everyone to grow in confidence and have a sense of achievement.’

Every member of staff at Millfields strives to ensure the School is a warm, caring, nurturing environment where children feel safe and happy. Whilst Maths and English are a core part of everyday life at Millfields, we look to develop the whole child through a rich and varied curriculum and a system that recognises and rewards positive behaviours. It was nice to be recognised for this during our most recent Ofsted inspection when 'Behaviour, Welfare and Personal Development' was judged to be Outstanding.

Pupils at Millfields are always keen to engage with the local community and recently we have performed at Manchester Arena, Crewe Lyceum, Mill House Retirement Home & St Mary's Church; planted bulbs and saplings in the local area and worked with local colleges and business such as: Reaseheath College; South Cheshire College; Crewe Alexandra FC;

At Millfields, we want our children to grow and progress in the best way possible. With this aim, we work closely with our local Primary and High schools as part of the Nantwich Education Partnership (NEP). The NEP provides us with opportunities to develop our academic, health and wellbeing curriculum by tapping in to the wealth of local expertise on offer.

These thoughts and ideas are captured by school’s aims:

  • Through strong sensitive leadership provide a structured programme of work ensuring a broad and balanced curriculum which engages the learners.
  • To maintain an environment where children feel safe, happy and secure.
  • To foster an enquiring mind and in each child confidence and resilience.
  • To address the needs of each individual child to ensure they are given the resources to maximise progress.
  • To develop a sensitivity to the needs of both self and others and an awareness of moral, social and Millfields’ values.
  • To prepare pupils for the next stage of their education and the future.
  • To work in partnership with parents, governors and other professionals to deliver the agreed aims for our children.
  • To encourage a spirit of community awareness and engagement.
  • To promote an active and healthy lifestyle.

It is always a pleasure to greet new faces to Millfields and, if you are new to the area or thinking about your child joining us, we would love you to come for a visit. Please contact our school office and we look forward to seeing you at Millfields in the near future.
