Geography Vision

At Millfields Primary School, we believe in the importance of respecting our planet and all the diverse cultures and communities that inhabit it.  We understand that geography is more than just maps and locations, it’s about understanding the relationships between people and the environment. Perseverance is a key element of our geography curriculum. We encourage our pupils to keep exploring, even when things get challenging. By preserving, our pupils will develop a deep understanding of the world around them and the challenges facing our planet. We encourage our pupils to work together, to listen and to learn from each other.

Our Geography curriculum ensures all our pupils:

  • Develop an understanding of globally significant places, including their physical and human characteristics
  • Are given the opportunity to conduct first-hand observations and fieldwork
  • Can collect, analyse and communicate data gathered during fieldwork
  • Can interpret maps, diagrams, globes, aerial photographs and GIS
  • Can communicate geographical information through maps, numerical and quantitative skills and writing
  • Have a good understanding of physical and human features and why these develop
