Physical Education Vision
Our vision at Millfields is for all children to receive a high-quality physical education that encourages them to achieve highly in competitive sport and other physically-demanding activities. We aim for all our pupils to become physically confident in their own abilities in a way that supports their health and fitness. They will be provided with a range of opportunities to compete in a range of sports and physical activities whilst embedding key values such a fairness and respect. Children will also be encouraged to challenge and push themselves, striving to be the best that they can be in both competitive and non-competitive scenarios. We aim for all children to develop a love for exercise, so that they may enjoy al the benefits of a healthy and active lifestyle.
Children in Key Stage 1 will be focussed on working on their co-ordination and special awareness skills in a wide variety of fun exercises and games. When children then progress into Key Stage 2 these skills will be continue to be developed alongside applying all that they have learnt in a wide variety of sports and games.
Our Physical Education curriculum ensures all our pupils:
- Develop skills to excel in a wide range of physical activities
- Are physically active for sustained periods of time
- Take part in both competitive and non-competitive sports and activities
- Lead healthy and active lifestyles
- Understand the importance of leading a healthy lifestyle
