Within our school we use Charanga, which is a designated program  which teaches children to perform, listen, review and evaluate music across a range of genres and time periods. This is through singing or musical instruments. Children within Year 3 are taught to play the recorder during the summer term. They learn a range of notes, how to read music as well as how to perform as part of a band. They build on these skills within Year 4 where they learn the Peabone. They are then offered the opportunity to join the school band. All children are offered the chance to take part in small group or individual music lessons with specialist teachers. The children can choose from a number of instruments including piano, violin, trumpet and saxophone.
