Music Vision
At Millfields we aim for all our children to receive the highest-quality musical education that we can provide. Our curriculum aims for all children to engage in and develop a love for music and their talent as musicians. This will enable them to increase their self-confidence, creativity and sense of achievement within a musical setting. Pupils will, as they progress, compose, play and listen to music in a range of genres and styles. The children will be given the opportunities to enjoy music in a wide variety of forms accessed through our broad and balanced curriculum.
To support our teaching of music we use Charanga, a designated program which teaches children to perform, listen, review and evaluate music across a range of genres and time periods
Our Music curriculum ensures all our pupils:
- Perform, listen to, review and evaluate music across a range of time periods, genres, styles and traditions including the works of famous musicians and composers
- Learn to sing and use their voices to create and compose music on their own and with others.
- Have the opportunity to learn a musical instrument and use technology appropriately with music
- Explore how music is created, produced and communicated
